Orlando Pictures When you think of Orlando Florida, there are probably all kinds of things that pop into your mind. They may be amusement parks, fishing, golf, sunshine, or any number of other things. There is a reason you have such a plethora of images associated with central Florida. This is a great tourist destination precisely because we have so much to do here and so much to see.  Orlando has become a very popular tourist destination in a relatively short period, a matter of decades. Of course, while it is well known for its amusement parks, there are also many other attractions. The city is the home of the Mennello Museum of American Folk Art and the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, featuring what is known as the world's most comprehensive collection of Louis Tiffany glasswork. A lot of history has been made in this town, originally called Jernigan. Popular legend holds that the city was renamed Orlando after a soldier, Orlando Reeve, who saved the area from Seminole Indian attack in the 1800's. This may be urban myth, but it does illustrate the wonderful and colorful culture Orlando possesses. Cowboys, Indians, lions, tigers, oranges - they all populate the past and present of this area. Orlando is also the home of the site of the first space launches. Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center is only 50 miles to the southeast, and people in Orlando are able to watch shuttle take-offs from their homes oftentimes. You can see the same sights as Neil Armstrong did when he took off for the moon to be the first man on the moon.
You don't have to be going to the moon in order to enjoy Orlando. Animal lovers can pick from a multitude of animal parks, sun lovers can golf, go to the beach less than an hour away, or play at one of the water parks, and adventure seekers have the largest theme parks in the world from which to choose. Orlando is a one-stop shop for you entire family's vacation.
